The almond blossom, which can be found along the Algarve, is vibrant pink and white can be linked to the creation of the Almond Path. This is a series of trails that extend across 11 KM in Castro Marim along the banks of the Guadiana River.

Perhaps best known for the amount of beauty it offers, the almond blossom is one of the very first bloomers of the year. Its colorful petals can be seen in the months of January and February and this makes these months the perfect choice to head on out and to explore Algarve.

Odiana, which is the association for the development of lower Guadiana, is registered as a non-profit organization and their aim is to help contribute to the cultural as well as the social aspects of this region, all supported by the three different municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

Along with the Almond Path, Odiana also offers 19 different hiking trails which cover a span of 135KM complete with signs and information booths that explains both nature and the surrounding history.
