The underwater museum has caused a huge amount of controversy and many environmental groups have objected t o the plans. However, this incredible new tourist attraction is set to be a huge success, with two of the new Navy ships arriving and getting ready to be sunk. The underwater museum is a new and ingenious idea, which has many people all over the world debating.

In the fishing docks of Portimao, the proud old Navy ships Oliveira e Carmo and Zambeze are waiting patiently to be sunk 5.5km from the coast. As the ships wait patiently, they will be cleaned and stripped ensuring that they are safe to sink.

The ships arriving have provided more work for the local people, who are happy with the decision to make this amazing marine bed. This work is due to take just over three months, which will be the ideal time to sink the ships just before the summer. These ships will create an incredible diving area for people to enjoy from all over the world.

There is an initial outlay of just over 2, 4 million to clean, strip and decontaminate the ships, which will be returned in revenue from the project. The government has been assured that municipality of Portimao will not have to pay anything towards the project. The project is due to be called Ocean Revival and is causing a huge amount of excitement in Portugal.

The fascinating biodiversity of incredible marine life this area offers, attracts both experienced and novice divers to the area. At present, the ships are in the fishing docks, which is an ideal place to see them before they are sunk. Some people believe that sinking ships to cause an artificial diving area is wrong. However, the Mayor of Portimao, believes that the concept is magnificent.

This will be the first time that a project of this style has been created anywhere in the world, and the Portuguese government are hoping that it will help to encourage more tourists. In a recent project, meeting the mayor agreed that the sea provides incredible potential. Therefore, there is no reason not to use this area surrounding Portugal.

There is a massive interest in this project, and it is hoped that divers and tourists from all over the world will visit Portimao and experience everything the area has to offer. Seasonality is a massive issue in Portugal, and this new marine project is hoping to combat these issues. The project has taken a large amount of time to become a reality; however, now it is underway it is incredibly exciting.

The underwater museum is expected to attract over 600,000 visitors in the initial 10 years once it is open. Not only will tourism be increased in the area, but also the unique artificial reef will attract far more underwater life to the area. To coincide with the amazing underwater museum, there will also be an exhibition on the shore displaying all of information regarding the ships.
