Picture-Perfect Algarve

Published on

The landscape of Algarve’s lovely and changing area offers scenery perfect for pictures and postcards. Plan enough time to enjoy inland trips while enjoying the ocean and sunshine at other times. The Algarve enjoys a unique climate free from the worst of the north winds thanks to the Serra do Caldeirao, a natural shield in the form of a mountain barrier.

Protected parks and reserves can be seen from boats sailing through Ria Formosa Natural Park or viewing the Vila Real de Santo Antonio Salt Marsh Nature Reserve after sailing the River Guadiana to Castro Marim.

Trekking the wide areas of the untouched wilderness in the Natural Park’s protected landscape located at Costa Vicentina and South-west Alentejo is an experience that will be remembered for years. Then head up the mountain to see the immense area filled with bright green vegetation that surrounds the town near the top of Serra de Monchique.

Even the villages and towns by the coast feature fields filled with cereal crops and open areas with fig and olive trees here and there to provide shade.

The sea is ever popular and there is a coastline of 200 kilometers with a varied landscape providing beautiful breathtaking views. The ochre cliffs tower above long stretches of beach while rocks embrace smaller beaches along the way.
