Almancil is a small Portuguese town in the District of Loule, with a population of around 12000 people. Almancil became a village in 1836, but with the development of the area in the ´70s, due to the influx of tourists into Algarve, this little village began to grow significantly and in December 1987 its title was promoted to town.
Nowadays Almancil is a very popular area due to its proximity to the beach, airport, golf courses and the luxury resorts of Quinta de Lago and Vale do Lobo. Almancil acts like a support wing of these resorts providing a large variety of high quality restaurants, shops and other services. You will find here one of the Apolonia supermarkets, as well as the Portuguese chain Pingo Doce supermarket, you will find here Gardening centres with amazingly beautiful plants, furniture shops with all the top brands, car garages, swimming pool shops, and many others. But apart from all this, Almancil attracts visitors with its quaint coffee shops, traditional cobbled streets, local cultural and sport activities, like kizomba and Latin dance classes, a karting centre for friends and family to have fun and so much more. This town is busy all year round and is only 10 minutes away from Quarteira as well as from the Loulé town. A perfect place to enjoy yourself, but also to get your to-do list done when needed.
