We are very proud to present this restored stone house with vineyards on the banks of the Sousa River near Porto, recently featured in the New York Times.
This stone house was built for wealthy owners of a local silver factory in 1949 and refurbished in 2022. It is unlike any home we have marketed in the northern region. The property sits on 3,380 m2 of land, including an active wine vineyard, and is only 30 minutes from Porto by car or 35 minutes by train.
Located in Penafiel, it is in the heart of the region’s wine country. The ruins of Monte Mozinho, an ancient Roman settlement that is now a popular tourist attraction, are six miles southwest.
Inside the house, the recent renovation brightened the property, creating an open-plan living and dining area on the ground floor. Gleaming wood beams line the peaked ceiling, and large, cream-coloured stone tiles cover the floors. The owners upgraded electrical and HVAC systems, added a security system with remote cameras, and installed double-glazed windows throughout the house. Outside, three sides of the house feature decks with river views and a stone terrace surrounds the front of the house.
