Portugal - the best country for family relocation
Published on
August is a time for fun-filled holidays that often spark the idea of relocating abroad to sunnier climes or investing in a holiday home.
If you are still unsure about where to invest, the health insurance company, William Russell have just released a Family Relocation Report highlighting the best and worst countries to raise a family.
Portugal has ranked as the best country in the world to live as a family.
The data was retrieved from sources such as the OECD, Numbeo, and TripAdvisor where they investigated eleven family-related factors, such as childcare costs, the number of attractions for children per 100,000 inhabitants, the average annual hours worked and educational attainment in key subjects.
This helped them to determine some of the best places to live abroad with a family together with those places that could be the most challenging. They then produced a score to provide a ranking of each country between 1 and 10.
Portugal did well across the board, but it really stood out in the financial categories, resulting in a total overall score of 6.33 out of 10.
The best and worst countries to live in as a family, according to the relocation report, are as follows:
Best: 1. Portugal; 2. Sweden; 3. Italy; 4. Spain; 5. Finland; 6. Latvia; 7. Hungary; 8. Japan; 9. France; 10. Estonia.
Worst: 1. United States of America; 2. New Zealand; 3. Australia; 4. Switzerland; 5. Netherlands; 6. Slovakia; 7. Czech Republic; 8. Poland; 9. Ireland; 10. Canada.
